About Fleming LLP

Frank Fleming The roots of FLEMING LLP reach back to 1921 and the firm’s longevity reflects the strength of its ties to Alberta and its members’ noteworthy role in the province’s legal history.  Over the many years of its flourishing existence, FLEMING LLP’s partnerships have boasted many luminaries, including the honorable Alexander A. McGillivray, one of the founding partners of the firm, who in 1925 was elected as leader of the Conservative Party of Alberta and at the age of 47 was one of the youngest Alberta Supreme Court Justices of Appeal in Canada.  Mr. A. A. McGillivray’s son, Mr. William A. McGillivray, also a former partner, was Alberta’s Chief Justice of the Court of Appeal of Alberta.  Former partner Mr. Ivan Head was Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to Prime Minister Pierre E. Trudeau from 1968 to 1978.  Our firm is named for the late Mr. Frank J. Fleming, Q.C., 1921-2005, a long-standing partner of the firm who also served as Assistant City Solicitor and then as City Solicitor for the City of Calgary from 1952 to 1960.
